Flail mower with combustion engine – what exactly is an ATV mower?

An ATV mower is a grass-cutting device equipped with its own combustion engine that can be attached to various vehicles. Although there is no single, official definition of this type of equipment, in practice it is a mower with an independent drive for the cutting unit, so it does not require power from the tractor's PTO shaft or other external power source.

Despite the presence of an engine, an ATV mower does not have a ground drive – it must be towed by a vehicle, such as a quad bike or off-road vehicle, to operate. The combustion engine is used solely to drive the shaft or cutting elements.

The basic difference between these devices is the construction of the mechanism. Flail mowers use flails (hammers) mounted on a rotating shaft to effectively chop tall grass, weeds, and dense undergrowth. Grooming mowers, on the other hand, use rotating blades that function similarly to a propeller, enabling precise and aesthetically pleasing lawn mowing.

The design of the ATV CK model is noteworthy, as it features an opening rear flap that facilitates operation in tall grass by reducing the load on the machine. An additional advantage is the ability to change the position of the wheels – they can be mounted on the sides or behind the mower, which allows you to minimize its working width.
