Flail mowers

Flail mowers, also known as flail mowers, are specialized agricultural machines designed to shred dense plants, shrubs, weeds and other plant waste into smaller fragments. They are widely used in agriculture, forestry, horticulture and in the maintenance of green areas. Thanks to their design and functionality, flail mowers offer high efficiency and effectiveness in managing difficult areas.

Key parts of flail mowers:

  • Flaors (flail knives): Flails are the most important working elements of a flail mower. They rotate at high speed and hit the vegetation, chopping it into small pieces. They can have various shapes (e.g. "T", "Y", hammer) and be made of various materials (usually hardened steel).
  • Flacker shaft (rotor): The beater shaft is the part to which the beaters are attached. It rotates at high speed, powering the beaters to cut and shred vegetation. Bearings: Bearings support the beater shaft and allow it to rotate smoothly. They are crucial to ensuring stable and effective operation of the mower.
  • Drive belt: The drive belt transfers power from the engine to the beater shaft, allowing it to rotate. This is an important element of the drive system of a flail mower.
  • Power take-off shaft (PTO): On tractor-drawn flail mowers, the power take-off shaft transfers power from the tractor to the mower, driving its cutting mechanisms.
  • Guards and protections: Various guards and protections protect the operator from flying debris and protect mechanical parts from damage.
