What mower for tall grass?

The best decision to choose a mower is one that takes into account what you want to mow and what terrain your machine will be in contact with.

For mowing tall grass, meadows, low-stem greens, e.g. alfalfa harvested for direct feeding or further processing, extensive areas, drum mowers also called rotary mowers are best suited.

The drum mower can work on uneven terrain with a slope of up to 12°. This area must be free of stones, branches, self-sown plants and molehills. This is the basic difference between a flail mower and a rotary mower.

Rotary mower thanks to its construction and working system enables work in difficult conditions, but also allows for a greater working range and precise adjustment to the terrain. Drum tractor mower as the name suggests, consists of two drums that rotate around their own axis. The cutting part is the sharp knives in the drum. The number of knives depends on the size of the mower.

Grasses are cut when you quickly hit them with a knife. The diameter of the working disc is equivalent to the mowing width, of course we count it twice because the mower is equipped with two discs.

The mowing height of the mower is set by the manufacturer at 32mm, while it is adjustable to 40mm and 44mm. The mowing height is adjusted by means of a distance ring, which is placed on the working drum between the hub and the working plate.

The condition for the correct operation of the machine is the appropriate selection of its size to the power and weight of the tractor.
