Flail mower with its own engine – what exactly is an ATV mower?

An ATV mower is a mowing device equipped with an independent combustion engine and can be towed by various types of vehicles. Although there is no single, formal definition of this type of machine, it can be said that these are mowers that do not require an external source of power – for example, a tractor's power take-off shaft (PTO). However, it is worth noting that although they have their own engine, they do not move independently – they require a towing vehicle to operate. The combustion engine is only responsible for starting the cutting mechanism – the shaft or blades.

What types of ATV mowers are there?

Both variants differ in the cutting mechanism used. Flail mowers use flails (also known as hammers) mounted on a rotating shaft to cut vegetation – they're great for cutting dense weeds and undergrowth. Grooming mowers, on the other hand, use horizontally rotating cutting blades, similar to a propeller – their purpose is to precisely and aesthetically trim the lawn.

The CK/E 120 model is equipped with a 15 HP, four-stroke Loncin OVH petrol engine with electric start. Thanks to its self-propelled drive, the mower can be used with a variety of vehicles – from ATVs and SUVs to mini tractors. A robust, balanced shaft with flails ensures smooth operation, while rapid mulching allows for efficient mowing. The unit is easily mounted using a standard tow bar.

The adjustment range for the CK/E 120 model includes:

• adjusting the cutting height,
• setting the height and angle of the drawbar,
• side shift adjustment.

A distinctive feature of the CK model is the opening rear flap, which facilitates operation in tall grass and reduces the load on the machine. The mower also allows for the wheels to be repositioned – they can be mounted on the side or rear of the machine, allowing for adjustment of the working width to suit the terrain.
